Latitude 16

Met with Daniel, the Manager of Mowbray by the Sea. They are putting together a marketing plan under the umbrella of Latitiude 16.

Basically, the story is that Stella Resorts now control too many properties in Port Douglas (the Outrigger resorts will be incorporated into the Stella brands soon) and it is hard for the smaller independent resorts to market themselves.

The majority of properties near the "golden triangle" which is where Macrossan and the 4 Mile Beach meet, believe they are in the best spot, (and who can argue). Hence, 8-10 of them have got together to market the "golden triangle" under the umbrella of Latitude 16.

These resorts include Driftwood Mantaray, Coral Apartments, Tropical Reef, Sunseeker, Tropic Sands, Garrick House and Mowbray by the Sea. Port Douglas Beaches Resort and a couple of others to join soon.

You can't really argue about the location. Personally I prefer to stay close to the beach, and accept (even enjoy) a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of Macrossan. That means that I favour the beach side of Davidson Street, preferably no further out than the PortSea (which represents a fair but nice walk along the beach).
